When I was first here, I thought there was no measuring cup for the kitchen. Then Elisabeth showed me this (picture on the left). Out of curiosity Carol and I checked every store we entered to see if what we would call measuring cups existed in France. So far they don't.
Tuesday is exercise
morning. The gal who leads this group is quite creative. Last time we
used stretchy straps in ways I'd never have dreamed. This time it was
playground balls. Since laughter is also a healthy exercise, we
certainly got a good dose of that!
I came home for a quick
shower before Elisabeth picked me up. We were having lunch with
Maguite and Jacques. After coffee and a delicious apple and banana
tart, we went for a brief walk by Pierreclos.
Six years ago I had
been able to take pictures in the backyard, but now even that is
behind an iron gate.
No one even gets into the yard without paying, and from what I've been told the interior isn't worth the price. There are better interiors to view elsewhere, but they do have a nice location. Apparently their main goal is to sell wine to their visitors.
Pictures of the gate were enough for me.

Elisabeth pointed out the rose bushes at the ends of the vineyard rows and asked if I knew why they were planted there.
I learned that roses in vineyards are like canaries in mines...they give warning before the danger becomes obvious. Whatever might infect the grape vines will affect the roses first.
We walked between the vineyards on a tree lined lane and then down the hill past cherry trees. Maguite and Elisabeth stopped at the first house where we were welcomed by a German fellow who had come to study in France as a young man, married a French girl and stayed to raise a family. We enjoyed a glass of apple juice before walking back up the hill.

On our way home we stopped for pictures of the lavoirs in Bissy la Maconnaise (not the nearby Bissy sous Uxelles) and Charcuble.

On my Wednesday excursion I headed for Sologny to work out a dinner date with Francis and Marie-Annick and spotted another lavoir.
While getting turned around I took a picture of a nearby house.
When I reached the lavoir, my camera died! I'll leave what I was thinking to your imagination...
