Milly-Lamartine & Sologny

On Wednesday I headed for Verze to give Stephane another chance to communicate in English. He also agreed to be my translator at the dentist's office the next day.

(The photos were taken after I left Verze and was heading for Milly-Lamartine.)

Then I needed to deliver the tax papers to Marie-Annick that she had left at my place Tuesday evening. (June is when French taxes are due.)

On my way to Sologny I decided to take a quick side trip through Milly-Lamartine, the hometown of Alphonse de Lamartine, poet and politician who worked to abolish slavery and the death penalty.

Home of Alphonse de Lamartine

In Sologny Francis was working on laying tiles in the future second bathroom. We discussed how to get to Mont Blanc and Marie-Annick invited Margery and me for dinner next Tuesday.

It was getting late so I needed to head for home, but before leaving Sologny I thought I'd try to find the other lavoir.

I ended up on a dirt road that led me to these 4 legged fellows...at least I didn't get stuck in a farmer's field, but I sure didn't find the lavoir.

I did take a photo of the tile roof that I traveled by during my lavoir search.

After a quick dinner I went with Elisabeth to Chissey for the monthly film. It was in French, but the actors were so good that I could figure out what was going on though I obviously missed a few funny comments when the rest of the audience laughed and I didn't. The two women in the film were Charlie Chaplin's daughter and Jane Fonda!

Just a nice looking garden in Milly-Lamartine
